Tumbled Stones
Tumbled stones, also known as polished stones or gemstones, are rocks or minerals that have been shaped and smoothed through a process called tumbling. Tumbling involves placing rough stones in a machine called a rock tumbler, which rotates them and applies abrasion to gradually wear away the rough edges and create a smooth, polished surface.
The tumbling process typically involves several stages. Initially, coarse-grit abrasives are used to shape the stones and remove the rough outer layers. After the initial tumbling, finer-grit abrasives are used to refine the surface and achieve a smoother finish. The final stage involves polishing the stones with a fine-grit polish to enhance their lustre and shine.
Tumbled stones come in various colours, shapes, and sizes, depending on the type of rock or mineral they are made from. Some popular types of tumbled stones include quartz, amethyst, jasper, agate, aventurine, and obsidian. They are often used in jewellery making, crystal healing practices, decorative purposes, and as collectibles.
Tumbled stones are believed to hold metaphysical properties and are associated with different energies and healing properties. You can use your tumbled stone in meditation or place on your body like reiki to tap into the metaphysical properties. We list a very brief overview of these properties. For more detail, you can view our blogs which discuss each stone in greater detail.
We also stock crystal clusters and Spheres which can also be used in meditation to access metaphysical properties.
